Frequently asked questions
Learn more about my approach to garden care, seasonal work, and ongoing property stewardship in the Comox Valley.
What areas do you serve?
I serve Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland, and surrounding Comox Valley communities. Travel and scheduling are discussed when you enquire.
How are consultations arranged?
A property walkthrough helps establish your goals and the work required. Consultation arrangements and any applicable fees are discussed before booking.
Do you work with strata and commercial properties?
Yes. I work with residential estates, strata landscapes, and select commercial properties. The scope is agreed around your grounds, priorities, and scheduling needs.
Can you restore an overgrown or neglected garden?
Yes. Garden restoration can include detailed weeding, pruning, redefining beds, improving soil and reconsidering existing planting. I first assess what is worth retaining, then agree on priorities and a practical scope with you.
What is your approach to landscape design?
I work with the natural architecture of your property—its light, slope, soil and established plants. Your wishes, budget and the care you can realistically maintain guide a design with flow, seasonal interest and room to flourish.
Do you provide pruning and ornamental plant care?
Yes. I care for ornamental shrubs, hedges and garden trees, choosing pruning methods and timing around each plant’s growth habit, flowering cycle and condition. We discuss the plants and the desired result before work begins.
How frequently can you service my property?
The right schedule depends on your garden, seasonal priorities, and budget. Ongoing care and one-time projects are arranged subject to availability.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. I hold a current business licence and carry business liability insurance. You work directly with me, Russell, the owner of Carbon Estate Stewardship, with over 20 years of professional landscaping and horticultural experience.
How do I book an appointment?
Use the Contact page to send an enquiry with your location, the work you have in mind, and your preferred timing. I’ll discuss availability and next steps with you.
Do you offer soil care and mulching?
Yes. Soil improvement, mulching and careful bed preparation can form part of restoration or ongoing garden care. I consider the soil, drainage and planting before recommending work, with the aim of supporting healthy roots and long-term garden performance.
Do you work through autumn and winter?
Yes, where the weather and site conditions allow. Autumn and winter can be suitable for leaf cleanup, mulching, garden restoration and selected dormant pruning. Work is scheduled around the needs of the plants and the conditions on your property.
How do you manage pricing, budgets and changes?
We agree on the priorities and scope before work begins, including labour, materials and removal requirements where relevant. I keep communication clear and discuss concerns or proposed changes with you before moving beyond the agreed work. Your budget helps shape a practical plan.
